The DIGI SUSTAIN CONFERENCE 2024 TOPICS ARE LINED UP WITH THE 17 SDGS.

According to the UN, "Eradicating poverty for everyone everywhere by 2030" is a key goal of its 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The global poverty rate fell from 10.1% in 2015 to just 8.6% in 2018, continuing its historic decline. According to Nowcasts, the COVID-19 pandemic will cause the global poverty rate to increase sharply, from 8.3 percent in 2019 to 9.2 percent in 2020. This is the first time extreme poverty has increased since 1998, and it's the biggest increase since 1990. It also sets back the poverty reduction process by approximately three years.

The COVID-19 pandemic has reversed the steady reduction of poverty over the last 25 years. The impact of rising inflation, and the war in Ukraine are further exacerbating this unprecedented reversal. These combined crises are expected to result in an additional 75-95 million people in extreme poverty by 2022 compared with the pre-pandemic predictions."

The UN defines goal 1 targets as follows:.

"1.1 By 2030, eliminate extreme poverty worldwide, which is currently defined as those who live on less than $1.25 per day.
